Electron beam melting (PBF-EB/M)
The Arcam EBM Q10plus electron beam melting system from the manufacturer GE Additive is being used as part of DFG project no. 543851476 for the additive manufacturing of metallic components using electron beam melting (PBF-LB/M).
In this process, metal powder is applied layer by layer in a vacuum chamber and selectively melted by an electron beam, allowing complex three-dimensional structures to be built directly from digital CAD data. The system is designed in particular for processing reactive metals such as titanium alloys and enables the production of dense components with comparatively low residual stresses thanks to high process temperatures and controlled process conditions.
