Damage-controlled forming processes

On November 25, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced that the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio “Damage Controlled Forming Processes” (TRR 188) will be extended for a further 4 years. This is a continuation of the interdisciplinary cooperation between the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University and RWTH Aachen University, as well as other universities in Germany, which has existed for eight years.

The Chair of Materials Test Engineering is represented with the sub-projects B01 and C01. Together with the project partners from the Institute of Mechanics (IM) at TU Dortmund University, the influence of process-related forming-induced damage on fatigue behavior is being investigated, among other things. This will enable manufacturing processes to be made more resource-efficient and climate-friendly in the future.

We look forward to the next 4 years and to continuing our successful cooperation!
