We discuss sustainability in materials technology on “5 vor Grün.”

As part of the “5 vor Grün” podcast series by In|Die RegionWestfalen, an episode on sustainability in materials technology was recorded, with Kay Bandermann accompanying the recording. Together with Prof. Dr. Frank Walther, Dr. Alexander Koch and Sebastian Stammkötter, current topics and research approaches were discussed, highlighting how innovative materials and modern manufacturing technologies can contribute to more resource-efficient use. The discussion focused, among other things, on the reprocessing and recycling of aluminium chips for lightweight applications, as well as the additive manufacturing of patient-specific implants made from titanium and magnesium alloys. These topics illustrate the potential of combining sustainable material use, advanced materials testing and innovative manufacturing processes.
